Devry Smith Frank is pleased to welcome three new lawyers
Devry Smith Frank LLP (DSF) and Woitzik Polsinelli LLP (WP Law) welcome Sanaz Golestani who joins their Whitby offce as a senior family lawyer. Sanaz graduated from York University with an Honours Bachelor of Arts (Hons. B.A.). She studied law at the University of Ottawa, where she obtained her Juris Doctor (J.D.) with a specialisation in dispute resolution and professionalism. She continued on to study international family law by attending Gonzaga University in Florence, Italy.
Prior to joining the team, Sanaz worked for a boutique law firm in the Halton Region (Ontario, Canada) practising exclusively in family law covering all areas such as property division, child support, parenting time and decision making and spousal support. While practising family law, Sanaz continued her studies and obtained her LL.M., specialising in family law, in 2018 from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto.
Sanaz is fluent in Farsi and is actively involved in the community working with women’s shelters in North York by providing sound legal advice during times of crisis. She is a member of the Iranian Legal Professionals of Ontario, the Canadian Ontario Bar Association, the Family Law Association and the Law Society of Ontario.
Devry Smith Frank LLP (DSF) and Woitzik Polsinelli LLP (WP Law) welcome Ryan Stubbs who joins them as an associate lawyer in their commercial litigation and collections & mortgage recovery groups. He graduated from Carleton University with a B.A. (Hons) and earned his J.D. from Bond University. He was called to the bar in 2020.
During his time at Bond University, Ryan was elected as Competitions Director of the Canadian Law Students’ Association and later as President, where he served for three consecutive semesters. He also received a number of awards for mooting and first-in-class, and was on the Dean’s List for Academic Excellence.
Prior to joining the team, Ryan gained extensive experience in civil and commercial litigation, regulatory compliance and defence, and business law working for a boutique firm in Toronto. He regularly appears in the Small Claims Court, the Ontario Court of Justice, and the Superior Court of Justice. Ryan also works with new companies on business law matters with a particular focus on assisting entrepreneurs in the cannabis industry with corporate, compliance and licensing issues.
Devry Smith Frank LLP (DSF) and Woitzik Polsinelli LLP (WP Law) welcome Nathaniel Hills who joined them as a senior tax lawyer in their tax department in 2021. Prior to joining the team, Nathaniel articled and practiced as the senior associate at a boutique tax law firm.
Nathaniel has vast experience in all areas of tax dispute resolution with the Canada Revenue Agency and the Ontario Ministry of Finance, including Appeals to the Tax Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Canada, objections & audits, the Voluntary Disclosures Program and more. He assists clients with the most challenging and complex tax issues, both domestic and international and carefully manages client interaction with the Canada Revenue Agency. As a part of this side of his practice, Nathaniel has appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Tax Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Canada.
He completed his J.D. at Osgoode Hall Law School where he excelled in the areas of tax law and legal writing and research and completed all of the requirements of Osgoode’s taxation law curricular stream designed for students who choose to focus primarily on tax and related business law matters. As a part of his legal education, he studied advanced corporate tax issues, tax litigation and dispute resolution, and international taxation.
Nathaniel is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation and The Ontario Bar Association.
