ICPAS Time and Talent Volunteerism Award

“Community impact is one of our firm’s core values. We launched M&S Cares in 2014 to formalise our commitment to making a tangible and measurable difference. We are honoured to receive this recognition,” said Managing Partner, Jeff Mowery.

Faced with the challenges of coming together from a distance, Mowery & Schoenfeld’s M&S Cares initiative found creative ways to fuel participation in team building. Socially-distanced volunteer events and holiday drives kept us active and together.

The firm hosted a virtual 5K to celebrate this year’s ICPAS Day of Service. This unique, socially distanced activity, designed to feel like a real, organised race, included branded race kits mailed to participants. Each kit contained a medal, race bib, finish-line tape, and the Day of Service shirt. They were sent to our team and any member of their inner circle who wanted to participate.

For the race, participants picked their favourite exercise location to run, walk, bike, or skip their way to the finish line. The theme of the race was “5K for Our Top 5”, and all funds raised or donated were matched 2-for-1 by the Firm. These donations went toward the five charities M&S Cares works most closely with each year: Keeping Families Covered, Arden Shore, Bernie’s Book Bank, The Sports Shed, and Feed My Starving Children.

Mowery & Schoenfeld has participated in the ICPAS Day of Service each year. The firm donates over 500 service hours annually, between individual participation in events, weekly volunteer sessions in small groups, and large, firm-wide volunteer events. With the mission “Helping Charities Help Children”, the initiative focuses its efforts on serving charities that enrich the lives of children in the community.

While last year’s pandemic presented challenges, the firm’s volunteer efforts and outstanding team members remained agile and adapted to the new environment.
